The Apalachicola–Eglin Critical Linkage is a biodiversity hotspot connecting two of Florida’s largest conservation landscapes and supporting numerous rare and endemic species. The linkage includes extensive sandhills and sandhill lakes, alongside longleaf pine uplands and other rare communities and species. Lands within this linkage safeguard clean water for coastal bays and aquaculture and include timberlands with strong potential for sustainable management and restoration. Rapid development along the Emerald Coast threatens this globally significant corridor, making timely protection a top priority.
